A Brief eNews to support the growing "Say No to Plastic Bags" campaign.
It is very short notice but we your trust believe this campaign is worth promoting.  The Bag Free Beecroft campaign launches tomorrow at 10AM in the Beecroft Arcade outside the Century Fruit Shop.
                               Old Beecroft bags are back!

A few decades ago, bags were printed in a limited edition - each with a number. Beecroft resident and famous actor Ruth Cracknell was the proud owner of Bag Number 1, so Cath Bartho informs us.
These old Beecroft bags sold 'like hotcakes', Cath says. The group went on to make tea-towels and mugs - all 'Beecroft' branded.
So it's wonderful that our community is once again creating Bee-bags for 2119-ers - and visitors to Beecroft.

These beautiful 'new-old bags' have been sewn by volunteers for residents and visitors to Beecroft who might have forgotten reusable bags to borrow and bring back.
Moustafa from Century Fruit Shop has kindly agreed to have the bags in his shop so customers can take one if they don't have their own.
All of this work contributes to reducing plastic waste - plus it builds on our strong sense of community in 2119.    Congratulations to our sewers, cutters and ironers!

Join us for the launch at 10am tomorrow,
Saturday 24 June 10am in the Beecroft arcade, outside the Century fruit shop
Cath's precious original bag will be making a special appearance!

If want to join the sewers?
People who can cut and iron are also most welcome:-
